Ukraine (part 2) | Svieta’s Travels

You would think driving around Ukraine would be a breeze. Well, no. It’s not. Some of the roads in the country are dirt and in the cities, they drive bumper-to-bumper. That’s kind of unsafe. I walked a ton while in Lviv (the city, not the oblosk). Did you know that I didn't have to wear a seat belt the last time I went to Ukraine? Granted that was a few years ago, but still! I still wore a seat belt, though. Sometimes.

I didn’t want to try driving in the traffic. Besides, walking is healthier and I got to see more by walking. It’s pretty nice out there. I definitely recommend that at somepoint you visit Ukraine. Don’t forget Kyiv! It’s the wonderful capital (has a crown in the map above).

Anyway, I was driving along the highway and I really needed a bathroom. I saw a little booth up ahead and I thought it would be a nice spot to pull over. But as I got closer I realized it was just somebody selling brooms. BROOMS! On the side of a highway! I kept driving and the person behind me actually bought a broom. I drove a few more miles and by then I really had to go. I saw another booth and I thought there was another broom seller. But no. The person was selling fish. ... The person ahead of me bought one.

Eventually I was able to use a restroom. When I got to my hotel room, I was feeling hungry and lets just say that I wish I bought the highway fish. So I looked on my phone to find a McFoxy because the last time I ate there, I was about 10. But...
I literally screamed. How could this place be closed? Was there a health code violation? Was maps being dumb? Did Ukraine just not want me to eat?

After several minutes of flipping out, I decided it would be best if I just moved on and looked else where. So I went back to maps and found a pizza place that was only a few miles away. It was dark out, so I decided to drive and so I did. I drove to the pizza place and ate my comfort food. You may be asking, "Why is she upset over some knockoff?" Well, my dear reader, whenever I would talk about Ukraine I would always talk about McFoxy. It made me laugh when I saw their faces as I talked about the Foxy Balls. Foxy Balls are pretty much chicken nuggets. After pizza, I went back to my hotel room and binge watched YouTube cat videos until I couldn't hold my eyes open anymore.

The time difference! Ukraine is about 7 hours ahead of New York time in America. So 3 am at home would be 10 am in Ukraine. So that messed up my sleep schedule. All in all, Ukraine is a great place to visit. If you don't know the language and/or have never been there, I recommend staying in the cities. Also, go with someone who knows what they're doing. I knew enough of the language to get by and people over there know at least a little bit of English. Not all, though.

That's all I have to say about Ukraine! The next place I want to go to is either Brazil or India. Until then!
