Let's Talk: An Important Coming Out
I'm not talking about some celebrity's coming out. I'm talking about myself. I've been carrying this on my chest for a while and decided I was ready to tell you. I understand this'll probably be hard for you to stomach, but it needed to be said. I can't keep pretending to be someone I'm not.
This isn't a joke. There's nothing funny about this situation at all. I am who I am, and who I am is not a joke.
When I first came out to my friends and family, they were very accepting. I didn't expect to get such a warm welcome, but I did. Being true to who I am at this day and age is very risky. I could get harassed and even shunned. There will be those who simply accept and those who will be overly dramatic with their responses.
I have always been who I am, and always will be. I hope my coming out does not impair how you see me. I am unique and you can either take it or leave it.
I am upset to see how coming out is received. People either glorify it or spit on it. However, not everyone is like that. Some people simply accept their friends for who they are without getting all weird. They don't make fun of them or see them as some other.
No one should be seen as an other and it breaks my heart to see people indicate an "other".
I know there are those like me who have tried to show their real selves. However, unlike me, they have been assaulted. They have been shot, beaten, and raided. They have had a key part of themselves ripped away. The authorities do little to stop such brutality. I am of course talking about what happened in '69.
I feel as though when people have nothing better to do, they attack those who they see inferior. There are so many other things to worry about. For example, climate change. Climate change is such a huge issue on its own.
People exist. They have unique traits that make them themselves. It is unfair to see such bigotry and prosecution over tiny details like this.
I am who I am and I don't want to hide anymore.
So, all in all, I think I'm ready to come out to you guys. I'm ready to admit who I am.
I
I am
I am g-
I am God
